THE FILM ABOUT SIW (2025)

SYNOPSIS

In November 2023, Siw's life partner, the actor Fredrik Ohlsson, passed away. They had lived together for 50 years, and forty of them in this top floor at Karlaplan. The children now want the apartment to be sold. Siw doesn't really know what she wants.

In the beginning of the film, we meet Siw as she, with the help of her children and grandchildren, sorts and packs up her belongings before the sale of the flat. She puts pink notes on what the moving truck will take with it. She is determined to bring only the things she wants around her to her new home, the rest will be sold.

Siw opens a pantry with shelves up to the ceiling. She has to stand on a ladder to reach. Her film rolls are on the shelves and in boxes on the floor. She bought her first film camera when she was 24 and has been filming ever since.

Siw's own film archive takes us on excursions into her sensational career, but also into a Sweden that no longer exists. These reels of film are a treasure that no one has seen before - they contain an era in Swedish entertainment told from a behind-the-scenes perspective from the early 60s onwards. Siw has filmed Wenche Myhre, Cornelis Vreeswijk, Grynet Molvig, Monica Zetterlund, Lill-Babs, Ann-Louise Hanson, Gitte Hænning and others. Some of them became close friends for life, including Barbro Svensson and Ann-Louise Hanson.

The women were the stars on stage, but around them there were plenty of men who had power over their music, song lyrics, career strategies and their money.
