SYNOPSIS
The Return of The Ark is a film about Swedish band The Ark — but also a film about friendship. It tells the story of how six boys from the forests of Småland transform their outsider status into success and achieve a major breakthrough. It is the story of how the pastor’s son and lead singer Ola Salo launches his Ark to preach his own religion, while being forced to question whether he himself can live up to his message.
The band inspired an entire generation of fans — and provoked just as many — with their glam-rock style and groundbreaking message. Through never-before-seen footage and the band members’ own stories, we get to know The Ark on a deeper level and witness what happens to a group of friends when they encounter success, attention, temptation, failure, separation — and reunion.
It is a poetic and thought-provoking story of the band’s journey over three decades — from their formation in 1991 in Rottne, Småland, through their breakthrough in 2000, their breakup in 2011, and their reunion tour in 2022.
The documentary The Reurn of The Ark offers a new perspective on one of Sweden’s greatest bands of all time.
