A factory outside Hamburg produces the world’s best-selling anatomical skeleton model, Stan - The Standard Man. All the copies are reproduced from the same human remains: an unknown man stored for decades behind a steel door of the factory. Who was the man who continues to haunt our classrooms and hospitals today? The search for answers uncovers a disturbing link to the dark history of anatomy during the Nazi era and to Polish forced laborers.
