Aboard a pink ship, donated by graffiti artist Banksy, a determined female crew sails across the Mediterranean to rescue refugees. Among them are Leona from Germany and Marie from France – two women in the midst of their careers, who leave their safe everyday lives to confront the deadly consequences of Europe's refugee policy. This film provides a close behind-the-scenes look at their struggle for a just world.
One of the greatest tragedies took place off the Italian village of Cutro, where 94 people drowned in front of border police who chose not to intervene. This has now become a major trial where Leona and her team on the pink ship are suing the police to determine once and for all: Who bears responsibility for the people's deaths – is it the police who didn't save them, or is it the Italian government? In the film, we follow the legal case that shines a light on this major moral question.
