With a deeply personal touch and an unique access, Emmy Award-winning director Maryam Ebrahimi captures the hopes and dreams of a group of Kurdish guerrillas. Once celebrated as global heroes in the war against ISIS, they now find themself abandoned by their allies. The Phantom Pain of Rojava is a post-war story set in Rojava, an autonomous Kurdish region in northern Syria, where Ebrahimi follows four friends in a house for wounded soldiers over the course of five years.
